Tradition and Heights
A spectacular journey crossing the Cordillera Blanca through the world's highest vehicular tunnel (Punta Olímpica 4,736 masl). We will visit Chacas, a town famous for its colonial architecture and its wood carving workshops of the Operation Mato Grosso.
Timeline
DEPARTURE FROM HUARAZ
Travel to Carhuaz. Ascent through the Ulta gorge with views of Huascarán and Contrahierbas. Payment of entrance fees (S/. 30.00 EX / S/. 12.00 N).
OLYMPIC POINT & CHACAS
Stop at the viewpoint and cross the world's highest tunnel. Visit to Cancaraga lagoon. Arrival in Chacas, visit to the church, square, and artisan workshops.
LUNCH & RETURN
Lunch in Chacas and return by the same route to Huaraz, enjoying the high mountain landscapes again.
